About The Game

Girl’s Flag Football is a variation of 7-on-7 competition football where the play is stopped by pulling the runner’s flag. This is a non-contact sport similar to field hockey or soccer. Flag football became an official CIF sport in the 2023-24 school year. The 2024-25 school year will be the first for Monta Vista. The game is played on an 80-yard by 40-yard field with 3 first down zones. The offense is required to go 20-yards, in 4-plays for a first down. Flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. The NAIA college division currently offers women’s flag football as an official sport. Some NCAA divisions will start to offer women’s flag football in 2025. Men’s and women’s flag football will make its debut at the Summer Olympics in 2028 in LA. For the girls who always wanted to play football, you now have your own space to achieve without having to play with the boys.
